Guidelines for: Our Missouri ~ 2021
Submissions are requested for Our Missouri ~ 2021 — As Seen by Missouri Writers and Artists, a bicentennial publication of Rock Springs Review.
The anthology is planned for Missouri’s Bicentennial Celebration and is an opportunity for Missouri Writers and Artists to showcase their view of the “Show Me” state. Missouri is the theme. Go with it.
Open to writers and visual artists who live in, or have lived in, Missouri to submit poetry, nonfiction or creative nonfiction, or visual art (cover and interior) for possible publication in a Missouri Bicentennial edition of Our Missouri ~ 2021 ~ As Seen by Missouri Writers and Artists (an RSR publication).
Follow Guidelines to ensure work is acceptable. Submit visual art in a .JPG attachment (need good resolution), manuscripts with cover sheet in a WORD attachment, to firstname.lastname@example.org with “OM Submission” in the subject line. Closing date for entries to be considered is March 31, 2019. Send questions to email@example.com with “Attn. Editor” in the subject line.
POETRY: Any form. A maximum of TWO poems from any author.
PROSE: A 6,000-word limit.
NONFICTION: Features, essays, memoirs, biography.
CREATIVE NONFICTION: Keep it true, but you can dress it up.
VISUAL Photographs and photographs of Art Work will be considered.
ART: Original entries. All visual art entries will be considered for cover and interior.
Work, text or art, must be unpublished at time of submission. Visual art in a .JPG file. Written submissions in 12-point, Times New Roman font. Use 0.3 paragraph indent for prose. All prose double spaced. Poetry single-spaced with double space between stanzas. Prose pages numbered. Spelling and grammar as author intends. This is intended to be a family book, so no graphic violence, gratuitous sex, profanity, pornography, or scatological language. If you want to be accepted, don’t push this too hard.
Cover Page to include the author’s name, address, email address, telephone number, the title(s) and first line(s) of the work(s), and a short (150 words or less) bio written in third person.
Rock Springs Review purchases first rights. Rights revert to author or artist upon publication. Payment upon publication will be approximately $5.00 per printed page of text. $10.00 for visual art.
