Donna Volkenannt: Personal essay “Living the American Dream” in Oct issue of Sasee Magazine; “Miss Tobin’s Special Gifts” published in KC Voices; Short story “Time Will Tell” published in Mysteries of the Ozarks, Volume V”; Co-edited Mysteries of the Ozarks, Volume V; Judged Ozark Creative Writers “Search for Excellence” memoir and essay contest; Wrote script for “Bootlegger Granny” performed during cemetery walk at All Saints Parish in St. Peters. Participated in St. Charles City-County Library Local Author Open House at Spencer Road Branch Library.

Pat Wahler: Published in Chicken Soup for the Soul – Step Outside Your Comfort Zone released Oct 31. New book launch for Pat’s historical novel is scheduled for May 19, 2018 at Main Street Books in St. Charles for “I Am Mrs. Jesse James.”

Bill Mueller: Is a finalist in The Saturday Evening Post short story competition, winner TBA.

Marcia Gaye: Won first place for Travel Article contest at Ozark Creative Writers, also placed 2nd in the Writing is a Blast, 99 Word Flash Fiction, and Your Lucky Romance categories, as well as seven honorable mentions.

JJ Zerr (Jack): Released “Guerilla Bride” a civil war story based in Missouri. He also wrote a poem based on a recent dental experience.

Jane Hamilton: Awarded four honorable mentions at OCW in the Jimmy Richardson Memorial, Essay, 99 Word Flash Fiction, and Your Lucky Dog categories.

Les Thompson: Awarded an honorable mention in the OCW Showcase.

Douglas Osgood: Placed second in the OCW Showcase and won first place in the Jimmy Richardson Memorial category.

Donna Volkenannt: Elected as Board Member of Ozark Writers, Inc. (OWI); 1st place for Short story at All Write Now! Conference; Personal essay published in KC Voices; Short story published in Mysteries of the Ozarks, Volume V; Co-editor of Mysteries of the Ozarks, Volume V.

Alice Muschany: Essay accepted for Chicken Soup for the Soul – Premonitions & Dreams.

Marcia Gaye: Judge for poetry for Arts Rolla, Sponsor and judge for Fractured Fairy Tales for OCW conference.

Pat Wahler: Three placements at AWN Conference:            2nd in Short Story, 2nd in Flash Fiction, 3rd in Essay. Published for the 14th time in Chicken Soup books for essay in The Cat Really Did That?

Jane Hamilton: Placed at AWN Conference: 3rd in essay and an HM.

Sarah Angleton: Held numerous signings for Launching Sheep & Other Stories from the Intersection of History & Nonsense. Spoke at library programs in Illinois. Had 1000+ readers sign up for an online giveaway.

Toni Gallia: Wrote series of educational help aids for teachers.

Doug Osgood: Placed as the 9th best liar in the Missouri Liar’s storytelling competition live performance.

JJ (Jack) Zerr: will release Guerilla Bride in the fall of 2017. His short story collection War Stories is on sale now.

Attending OCW in October: Marcia, Jane, Doug, Les Thompson.

Attending Show Me Masterclass Writers conference in October: Pat, Marcia, and others.

Selling books at SCCC library Local Authors in October: Doyle Suit, Donna, Pat, Sarah, Jack, Alice.

Selling books at Good Reads in the Garden; Doyle, Sarah.
