Southeast Missouri Writers’ Guild was spearheaded by Dr. Susan Swartwout, editor/publisher of Southeast Missouri University Press, and then-assistant editor, Donna J. Essner, in recognition for the need for writers in the Southeast Missouri and surrounding areas to join together as writers to network, encourage, and educate one another in this far-reaching world.
The guild holds monthly meetings from January-October and provides its members with workshops, presentation by writers, publishers, and editors from all facets in the publishing world. Members are writers in all genres and include published as well as newbies. All are welcome to join. Annual dues are $25. First meeting is always free!
Additionally, members of SEMO Writers’ Guild and Heartland Writers Guild members promote the annual All Write Now! conference, which is held in July of each year in Cape Girardeau, MO. This year, the Saturday conference will again be held on July 15, 2017 at the University Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. For the first time this year, Sunday Master classes will also be offered to attendees who would like a more intensive workshop experience.
