Missouri Writers Guild’s Professional Membership

by George Sirois

George Sirois is the author of the international bestselling young adult / science-fiction novel Excelsior, its two sequels, and the five-part science-fiction / sports serial From Parts Unknown. Both stories have a long development history, with the character of Excelsior filling George's steno notebooks in high school in 1992 and the world of From Parts Unknown coming to life during a walk around New York City in 1995. The Excelsior trilogy and the From Parts Unknown serial have found a new home at Roan & Weatherford Publishing Associates, where George now serves as its Director of Media Relations.

George was elected Vice-President of the Missouri Writers Guild in 2016-2017 and President from 2017-2018, also operating as the chair or co-chair of the Guild's annual conference. During his time as President, he assisted in the creation of the MWG's newest chapter, the Hannibal Writers Guild.

In 2018, after two years of participating on the roundtable podcast Write Pack Radio, George ventured into solo podcasting with Excelsior Journeys, a weekly interview show that spotlights both established and up-and-coming creatives, and From Duck Till Dark: Outside the Marvel Studios, a celebration of the Marvel movies that were not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2023, he and fellow authors Stacey Rourke and Sandra Schaer-Fisackerly founded the Once Upon a Podcast Network, a group of podcasts meant to motivate, celebrate, educate, and even rejuvenate creatives of all kinds.

George adapted & directed an audio dramatization of the first Excelsior book, which featured a full cast of voice actors, sound effects, and a rousing musical score. The acclaimed live performance was produced by The 529 Club on the Clubhouse app on March 12 & 19, 2023. The same year, George wrote the short screenplay "Minus One Plus," which has garnered accolades in the SIFCA Short Script Competition, the Cambridge Script Festival, the Lift-Off Global Network Script & Screenwriters Showcase, and the International Indie Film & Screenplay Festival in Glasgow, Scotland, where it was awarded Outstanding Achievement.

George began pursuing voiceover work in 2015, working with the successful voice artist & instructor Jim Singer. He became an audiobook narrator in 2016 with a performance of his own book "Excelsior." He has since gone on to narrate over fifteen titles in various genres, including young adult fantasy, science-fiction, children's, humor, romance, and personal development. He also assisted author Derek Taylor Kent behind the scenes of the award-winning audiobook "Kubrick's Game," narrated by Jonathan Frakes & Yvette Nicole Brown.

While New York remains forever in his heart (Let's Go Giants!), George now calls St. Louis, Missouri his home with his wife & daughter. He loves to sit down with a good movie, enjoy family game night, and dance West Coast Swing.
