From the MWG By Laws (Updated June 1, 2017):
A professional member is eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, has all voting rights, may have a listing on the Speakers’ Bureau, and is eligible to participate in marketing events (such as the Missouri Library Conference or Kansas City Literature Festival).
Membership requirement for this level is to be a friend to the writing industry without actually making a living as a writer. This includes: instructor, editor, proofreader, publisher, cover designer, web designer, photographer, illustrator, librarian, bookstore owner/manager, publicist, agent, audiobook narrator, audiobook producer, or anyone involved in a field requiring the patronage of writers to either present a work of the best possible quality, or provide professionally prepared marketing materials.
Members’ information will be added to the Members Only section of the Missouri Writers Guild website to ensure accessibility, and members will be required to provide up-to-date information at all times.
Professional Members are under no obligation to provide a discount of any kind for their services.
A portfolio of the applicant’s work will be requested.
[First time Professional Members pay $40, Renewal $30]
